An award-winning songwriter for Songs of Service and festival, restaurant, private event, and bar performer in several states and Korea, John Murphy has been featured in a cover story in Seoul Classified Magazine and for a solo hour-long songwriter special on 88.9 WMCX-FM radio.
Murphy plays singer-songwriter guitar music from the 60’s to present with emphasis on classic rock, folk, and Americana with some country and reggae sprinkled in. His song list includes hundreds of covers or similar originals including Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash, REM, Rolling Stones, Hank Williams Jr., Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, David Bowie, Grateful Dead, Eagles, etc.
Murphy is returning to solo acoustic performances after four years of playing as lead guitarist and singer of the Gossart and Murphy cover duo in Virginia and other Murphy’s 6 String band variations and locations dating back two decades in several states and countries including Red Bank, NJ Street Life Festivals and various Department of Defense events. Murphy also routinely donates performances for Veterans Affairs hospitals, women’s groups, and other non-profit endeavors.
After a life of collecting stories while traveling in the military, Murphy recently settled in Panama City Beach, FL. to concentrate on solo acoustic performances and recording his thirty original song offerings.
